Terms of Service
Charlotte Permit Data · Effective October 24, 2026
These terms are an agreement between you and Top Methods LLC, a North Carolina limited liability company ("we," "us"), which operates charlottepermitdata.com (the "Service"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, don't use the Service.
1. What the Service does
Charlotte Permit Data imports new building permits from Mecklenburg County's public permit data each day, tags them by trade (for example fence, roofing, HVAC, solar, pool), filters them to the ZIP codes you choose, and shows them on a dashboard and in a morning email. It is a lead-finding tool for contractors and other businesses.
2. About the data (please read)
- Public records, as-is. Permit data comes from Mecklenburg County public records. We don't create it and can't guarantee it is complete, accurate, current or free of errors. Records may be late, changed, withdrawn or missing. Some permit types (for example standalone trade permits) are not in the feed.
- Tags are guesses. Trade tags are generated automatically from the permit type and work description. They point to likely follow-on work, not confirmed jobs or customers who want your services.
- No affiliation. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by or acting for Mecklenburg County or the City of Charlotte.
- Not legal or professional advice. Nothing in the Service is legal, financial, real estate or other professional advice. Check anything important against the official county record.
3. Your account
You must be at least 18 and able to enter a contract. Give accurate information, keep your password private, and tell us if you think your account has been used without permission. You're responsible for activity under your account. One subscription is for one business; don't share logins outside your business.
4. Acceptable use — contacting property owners
Permit records can include property owners' names and addresses. You agree to: - Use the data only for lawful business purposes and follow all laws that apply to your marketing, including telemarketing, Do-Not-Call, CAN-SPAM, door-to-door solicitation and local ordinances; - Respect anyone who asks you not to contact them; - Not use the data to harass, stalk, discriminate against, or make eligibility decisions about anyone (for example credit, insurance, employment or housing). The Service is not a consumer reporting agency and must not be used as one; - Not resell, republish or redistribute the Service's data feed, or scrape, overload or try to break into the Service.
5. Plans, billing and cancellation
- The plan is $59 per month, billed monthly in advance through Stripe, until you cancel. Prices may change; we'll give you notice before a change applies to your next billing period.
- You can cancel anytime from Settings → Manage billing. You keep access through the end of the period you've already paid for.
- Refunds: We don't refund partial months. When you cancel, you keep access through the end of the month you've already paid for, and you won't be charged again.
- We don't store your full card number; Stripe processes payments under its own terms.
- If a payment fails, we may pause or end access until it's resolved.
6. Emails
Your subscription includes a daily permit email. We may also send account and billing messages. You can change email settings or cancel at any time.
7. Availability and changes
We aim to deliver new permits each morning but don't guarantee the Service will be uninterrupted, on time or error-free — for example if the county feed is late or unavailable. We may change, add or remove features. We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms.
8. Ownership
We own the Service, its software, design and tagging. Underlying public records remain public. You get a limited, non-transferable right to use the Service for your own business while your subscription is active.
9. Disclaimer of warranties
THE SERVICE AND ALL DATA ARE PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, ACCURACY AND NON-INFRINGEMENT, TO THE FULLEST EXTENT ALLOWED BY LAW.
10. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent allowed by law, Top Methods LLC and its members won't be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or lost profits, revenue, jobs or business opportunities. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 3 months before the claim.
11. Indemnity
You agree to defend and hold harmless Top Methods LLC and its members from claims arising from your use of the Service or the data, including how you contact property owners, or your breach of these terms.
12. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of North Carolina, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Guilford County, North Carolina, and you consent to those courts.
13. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. If changes are material, we'll notify you by email or on the site before they take effect. Continuing to use the Service after that means you accept the new terms.
